The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has alleged that the TRS government has cheated government employees, teachers and pensioners by not announcing either pay revision or at least interim relief.

In an open letter addressed to government employees, teachers and pensioners, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Tuesday that all sections of employees had participated in the Telangana movement risking their career. However, caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao did nothing for them despite making several promises and announcements and had dissolved the Assembly abruptly, without fulfilling the promises made.

Mr. Rao assured to announce interim relief to employees on the State Formation Day, June 2, and pay revision on August 15 but he did not fulfil even one of them, leaving huge disappointment to over 4 lakh employees and about 2.5 lakh pensioners. Besides, in spite of claiming Telangana as the richest State repeatedly, Mr. Rao did not release the dearness allowance on time, even once, Mr. Reddy said.

Stating that the employees were not given any benefit after the creation of new districts, the TPCC chief said several employees who were transferred to new districts suffered financial loss due to lesser house rent allowance in new districts. Mr. Reddy alleged that a few TNGOs and TGO leaders were given political postings to keep the employees silent.

He pointed out that the TRS government did not allot any land for housing to employees and teachers during its tenure spread over four years. Huge injustice was done by not permitting registration of land allotted by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy government to teachers and employees. Stating that regularisation of contract and outsourced employees was one of the major promise made by Mr. Rao during 2014 elections, Mr. Reddy said it was not kept by citing court cases as the reason.

During the statehood movement, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao visited all universities promising lakhs of jobs so as to exploit the youth but he had no face to step into any university now, Mr. Reddy observed. Promising that the next Congress government would scrap the Contributory Pension Scheme and restore the previous system to protect the interest of lakhs of employees, he requested them to support Congress in the next elections.
