: A breach to the Gundlavagu project near Pasra in Govindraopet mandal posed a threat to the habitations around but timely action by the Irrigation Department personnel averted danger.

The project received huge amounts of water due to the incessant rain during the past 24 hours in many areas. A small breach on the project created a commotion among the people in Chandru thanda in the early hours. The district officials rushed to the spot and mobilised about 400 sand bags to seal the breach. In the past, the Gundlavagu project got washed away, in which tribal people had lost their cattle and property. MP A. Sitaram Naik visited the spot and oversaw the repairs being carried out by the irrigation officials. “Every effort is being made to prevent threat to life and property of people along the stream,” he said.

Meanwhile, the pristine Pakhal lake received huge inflows and the lake was brimming with rainwater. The water level in the tank reached about 14.5 ft.
