A book titled Road to Mekong on cross-country motorcycle expedition written by Jai Bharathi, founder and CEO of MoWo, was launched at Ravindra Bharathi here on Monday.
In the book, the author, who was among four women bikers who travelled around 17,000 km across six countries in 56 days, describes in detail the experience of travelling through six countries to reach Mekong from Hyderabad. The author has also outlined the challenges that they faced during the mission and how they used this tour to promote tourism and women safety in Telangana.
“Everyone has the potential in them to do something, but they lack courage. Reading my book will inspire them to do want they want to,” said Ms. Jai Bharathi.
She added that there were several books on travel expeditions in English, and hardly any in Telugu, which made her write the book in her mother tongue. The book not only describes the travel experience, but the opportunities that she got in her life that made her start the expedition.
Congratulating Ms. Jai Bharathi on the occasion, B. Venkatesam, Principal Secretary, Department of Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture, said the four women bikers had set an example for other women to follow.
“The book will surely inspire many young women who want to travel,” he said while launching the book.
Addressing the media, M. Jagadeeshwar, Principal Secretary, Department of Women, Children, Disabled, and Senior Citizens, applauded the author for holding a India Book of Records for being the only woman from India to travel to UNESCO sites in different countries.
Their expedition was jointly sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Department of Women and Bajaj Motors.
