“Telangana Run” will be organised from Prakasam stadium to the Telangana Martyrs Memorial in Kothagudem on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Telangana State Formation Day on Tuesday.

The State owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has lined up a wide array of events including cultural and sports competitions as part of week-long celebrations beginning from June 2 to 7.

The SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar will unfurl the national flag at a central function to be held at Prakasam Stadium at 8.30 am on Tuesday.

Felicitation

Felicitations to the best performing employees, inauguration of exhibition stalls highlighting the coal production pursuits of the company and a range of cultural programmes depicting the rich cultural heritage of Telangana will mark the ceremony.

Procession

Various sports and cultural competitions for children and women will be organised during the week-long celebrations. A procession comprising artistes, SCCL employees, and people from various walks of life will be organised on the concluding day of the celebrations on June 7.

Meanwhile, the premises of the Pavilion Grounds have been spruced up in Khammam where a 25-foot tall Telangana Martyrs Memorial is all set to be unveiled on Tuesday.

Karimnagar gears up

Karimnagar Special Correspondent adds: The stage is set for the grand celebrations of Telangana Formation Day from June 2 to 7 in Karimnagar town. The town has been beautified for the celebrations by illuminating all important junctions and government offices. The celebrations would begin with paying floral tributes to Telangana Martyrs Memorial and garlanding of Telangana Thalli statue in Karimnagar.

Assets distribution

Minister for Finance and Civil supplies Etala Rajender would unfurl the national flag at the Police Parade Grounds and distribute assets and prizes. Every day cultural programmes would be held at the Circus grounds for the benefit of people.

On June 4, a massive colourful cultural rally would be organised in Karimnagar town. As part of the celebrations, the district authorities were conducting series of programmes such as cookery, rangoli, mehendi, fashion dress competition for the womenfolk. Essay writing and elocution competitions for the students. Kavi sammelan, qawali and Urdu ghazal programmes.
