Thousands from across the country converge at NIT

Students from different States speaking various languages and in their best attires thronged the National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus here for the annual technical festival Technozion.

The inaugural ceremony was held formally on Wednesday evening with Shantha Biotech founder K. I. Varaprasad, Warangal Urban district Collector Amrapali Kata and NIT Director N V Ramana Rao lighting the lamp and launching the 12th edition of the fest. The main events began on Friday and will conclude on Sunday.

NIT director Prof N. V. Ramana Rao said Technozion witnesses the participation of more than 800 institutions and with digital outreach to 2,00,000 and is the largest technical fest in South India. It has established a robust outreach across the student fraternity. “Every year we have a footfall of nearly 11,000 students, including 6,000 in-house students and 5,000 students from across the SAARC countries,” he said.

The aim of this festival was to gather engineering students from various regions and provide them with an opportunity to exhibit their abilities and talents. Technozion organises many events, workshops, exhibits, thought provoking guest lectures, paper presentations and initiatives balancing and integrating social, environmental and economic dimensions. Technozion has embodied the in-depth meaning of its motto: ‘Create, Conceive and Conquer.’

Each year, Technozion comes up with a unique theme that defines the objective and nature of the festival. It brings together the plethora of events, workshops, guest lectures and video conferences under a common theme. ‘Alquimia’ is the theme for this year’s Technozion.

This year’s major attractions include games like ‘You’ve got only 60 seconds, Devil’s Den, Neon cricket, Mahishmati, exhibits like robo dance, automation and instrument exhibition.

Other attractions include Hovermania, wreckage, mobile controlled robots, robo wars, workshops on robotics, cloud computing, ethical hacking and makathon competitions.
