TDP worker held for objectionable post against KCR on Facebook

The accused identified as Ravikanth Bojjja alias Robert, native of Kesirajupalli village of Thipparthy mandal, posted the offensive remarks on his Facebook page.

Nalgonda Two Town Police arrested a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activist on Sunday for an objectionable post on his Facebook page against Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The accused has been identified as Ravikanth Bojjja alias Robert, native of Kesirajupalli village of Thipparthy mandal. The accused posted the offensive remarks on his Facebook page going by the name of Rabi Thiru Bojja.

Nalgonda DSP B.Ramlu Naik told The Hindu that the police took the accused into custody following a complaint by a Telangana Rashtra Samiti activist from Nalgonda town. The officer said that they went through the Fcebook page and found that Ravikanth had posted objectionable content on the Chief Minister and forwarded the same to others. The same posts were sent through Whatsapp to his friends.

Mr. Nayak said that Ravikanth had used a photo of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao when he had undertaken fast unto death in 2009. Alongside the picture, he had used very offensive words against the Chief Minister.

Cases under information Technology Act (66A) 2002 and IPC sections 153-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 507 (Criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication). He will be produced before the court soon.

The police said that the staunch TDP workers had contested as a ward member unsuccessfully in the last panchyat elections. His Facebook page has a large number of posts in support of TDP leader A. Revanth Reddy, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and others.
