The Telugu Desam Party has sought the support of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in moving a no-confidence motion against the NDA government in the monsoon session of Parliament starting July 18.

A delegation of TDP MPs led by Y. Satyanarayana (Sujana) Chowdary called on TRS parliamentary party leader K. Keshav Rao at his residence here on Sunday. The TDP MPs briefed the TRS leader about the circumstances that prompted them to move the no-trust motion against the government and sought the party’s support for it.

Faced with requirement of at least 50 members in support of its motion, the TDP had decided to meet the leaders of the non-BJP, non-Congress parties in Parliament seeking their support for its motion. “We need support of the TRS as no-confidence motion requires numbers and therefore, we called on Mr. Keshav Rao,” a TDP MP said.

The party had decided to depute its MPs led by C.M. Ramesh to meet leaders of the AIADMK and DMK in Tamil Nadu and another delegation headed by Thota Narasimham would meet the Shiv Sena leadership in Mumbai before the commencement of the session.

The TDP delegation is learnt to have handed over a letter addressed by TDP president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu seeking the TRS’ support. The letter also consisted the party’s decision to move adjournment motion seeking debate on the status of implementation of the assurances given on the floor of the House during the passage of the State Reorganisation Act 2014.

Mr. Keshava Rao told the TDP MPs that a decision on the support for the proposed no-confidence would be taken after the party leadership discusses the issue.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi had extended its support in principle for the adjournment motion on the implementation of promises made during bifurcation as Telangana too would raise the unkept promises of Centre like integrated steel plant in Bayyaram made to the State.
