Suresh’s wife faints on hearing news in hospital

She returns to village after treatment

When doctors at Osmania General Hospital declared Kura Suresh dead, his wife Kura Latha fell unconscious and collapsed outside the burns ward.

With the assistance of hospital staff, their relatives shifted her to the emergency ward for treatment on Thursday. Later, she was discharged and taken to their village, Gouravelli in Rangareddy, where her husband was cremated.

“We were waiting to hear something good about his health when doctors came out and told us that Suresh is no more and that they tried their best to save him,” said Suresh’s brother-in-law M. Venkatesh of Bacharam village.

Speaking to The Hindu at OGH morgue, Suresh’s father Kura Krishna said that the doctors and police did not allow him to see his ailing son even after repeated requests. “Finally, they brought me to this place (mortuary) to identify the burnt body of my son,” he said crying inconsolably. On Monday morning before going to the farm Mr. Krishna spoke to his son for the last time and three days later he received his son’s body in a white shroud.

“Though Suresh was angry at the officer for not issuing the land documents, he shouldn't have done such a big mistake,” he said.

On Monday, Suresh allegedly set ablaze Abdullapurmet Tahsildar Ch. Vijaya Reddy in her office and committed suicide.

Doctors said that he suffered 65 % burns and since Wednesday evening Suresh’s condition was deteriorating, following which he was put on a ventilator.

Meanwhile, police said that on Monday morning, Suresh had bought three litres of petrol, half of which was used to douse himself and the Tahsildar.
