Srisailam project received a heavy inflow of 1.61 lakh cusecs from Sunkesula barrage which was filled to the brim by Sunday evening and the authorities of the latter kept releasing water from 29 out of 30 gates from 7.30 p.m. onwards. In addition to inflows from Sunkesula, Srisailam also received another 1.40 lakh cusecs from Jurala which took its aggregate water arrival to 3.01 lakh cusecs.

But, this was not enough to discharge water downstream into Nagarjunasagar as the level was only 857.60 ft. The release of water will take place only when the storage touches 215 tmcft, while the present level is 98.90 tmcft, project authorities said.

Meanwhile, power generation by three units at Srisailam was temporarily suspended around 6 p.m. due to excess voltage.
