Speed up completion of LI projects: Nandi Yellaiah

Congress MP from Nagarkurnool Nandi Yellaiah has urged the Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao to expedite completion of Kalwakurthy, Nettampadu and Bhima lift irrigation projects.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Yellaiah said Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthy LI scheme would irrigate 3.40 lakh acres in Kollapur, Achampet, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Kalwakurthy. “Government has already spent a whopping Rs. 2,601 crore, out of the total cost of Rs. 2,990 crore. If the balance amount is released the project will benefit the farmers. I request you to increase the capacity of the project from 25 tmcft to 40 tmcft,” he said.

He said Jawaharlal Nehru Nettampadu and Rajiv Bhima LI projects should also be completed to facilitate creation of additional ayacut of two lakh and 2.03 lakh acres respectively.
