The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSSPDCL) bagged four awards at the 13th India Energy Summit organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in New Delhi on Thursday.

The Discom received first rank (award) in the innovations and efficient operations categories and third rank (award) in the performance improvement and technology adoption categories. The awards were received by Chairman and Managing Director of TSSPDCL G. Raghuma Reddy from Subhash Chandra Garg, who retired as the Energy Secretary in the Ministry of Power.

Speaking after receiving the awards, Mr. Raghuma Reddy said they have taken new and positive steps to increase the system efficiency and manage supply-demand situation effectively. Implementation of the IR/IRDA (smart) metering has reduced the billing cycle, which has been resulting in seamless billing experience and high billing efficiency.

Further, the TSSPDCL has implemented the SCADA and DMS, data acquisition and management systems, in Hyderabad and other towns in the State. Introduction of mobile applications such as SASA and others has empowered the field officers with exhaustive information of supply in the areas under their purview enabling them to pin point the location and provide service in no time, he explained.

The Discom was also bringing down the distribution losses, providing customer-friendly services right from availing connections to redressal of complaints, smooth billing and payment systems and interruption-free quality power supply. The Discom takes pride in its achievements and at the same time the awards motivate the organisation to mobilise and deploy its energies in the service of the consumers with greater strength and renewed spirit, Mr. Raghuma Reddy said.
