Six killed in accident

In a ghastly road accident, six passengers of an auto-rickshaw, five of them women, were killed and four others injured near Peddur tanda in Kadem mandal in Adilabad district on Friday. The auto-rickshaw was going from Indhanpalli in Jannaram mandal to Khanapur mandal headquarters.

According to the police, the auto driver had taken nine Khanapur-bound passengers, belonging to different places, at Indhanpalli. The vehicle had travelled about 23 km when the accident took place on the outskirts of Kadem mandal headquarters. A lorry coming in the opposite direction rammed the auto leaving four persons dead on the spot. The two others died at Khanapur. The injured were rushed to Nirmal hospital. The deceased were identified as Atram Bheem Rao (45) of Jainoor, Pendur Bai (35) and V. Gajalaxmi (15) of Khanapur, Kamalabai (30) of Indervelli, Girijabai (60) of Indhanpalli and Ravula Sailaja (20) of Gangadhara mandal in Karimnagar district.

In a separate incident, four persons were seriously injured when a car rammed an auto-rickshaw at Dammaigudem in Tirumalayapalem mandal of Khammam district on Friday. According to sources, a car bound for Warangal collided head on with an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers from Birolu to Dammaigudem.
