Should not the Army be more people-friendly?

May 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST

The Army blocking roads in and around the AOC Centre has been going on for a couple of years now. It seems to have become insensitive towards local citizens as commuting is made difficult.

The AOC Centre was far away from the city a few decades ago with very little inhabitation beyond Marredpally. Today, the area has become the city’s heart and such restrictions will not augur well for the existence of any city.

The Army should be more considerate and learn to co-exist peacefully. The Army will find a solution, if they look at it from a point of view of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Security can be strengthened with the cooperation of regular commuters and not by alienating them.

We would like to see a people-friendly Army in the twin cities.

Metro stations not yet ready

The Hyderabad Metro, according to an article published in this newspaper, said that all stations in Line No. 3 would be ready for operation from Nagole to Mettuguda. But, when I visited these stations, none of them were. They need at least two to three more months for completion. They still have to construct approach paths to reach lift and staircase or escalator. A month later, the monsoon will begin, making construction difficult. I also find that there is no parking facility at some stations.
