A newly-wed woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train on Saturday morning.
The deceased, identified as N. Mamatha (34), a resident of Srinivasanagar, had just been married two days ago to a man from Nandigama in Krishna district.
She had returned to her parents’ house on Friday night from there after attending Vratham (a religious ritual).
According to the Khammam Government Railway Police (GRP), Mamatha jumped in front of a speeding train at the Venkatgiri gate in the area. They believe that she was dissatisfied with her in-laws’ poor financial condition, which led her to take the drastic step.
The police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
