Keep your surroundings clean and take nutritious food during menstrual cycle, Principal District and Sessions Judge P. Sreesudha advised girls and women here on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the ‘Campaign on Menstrual Hygiene’ at the SSR Discovery School, she said girls were afraid of going to school during menstruation but they can attend classes by taking care and caution. Education could help create awareness in this regard, she said.
The campaign was organised by District Legal Aid Authority (DLSA) in association with the Bleed With Pride and Government Medical College. Attending the programme, Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao said the district administration would extend all cooperation to make the campaign a great success. “I will ensure distribution of Government’s health kits to students,” he said.
Bleed With Pride lead representative Vishnu Baradwaj said his organisation has provided training to 10,000 people on menstrual hygiene and sanitary pads, and that it has been successful in reducing teenage anxiety through awareness on puberty changes in adolescents. The training helped them establish communication with at least one family member. “We also sensitised boys to be more empathetic and supporting to their mothers, sisters and cousins,” he said.
SSR Institutions chairman M. Maraiah Goud, senior civil judge M. Kiranmayi and school correspondent Haritha Goud were present.
