SC-appointed panel visits schools in Karimnagar

The panel members Ashok Kumar Gupta, TV Ratnam and G. Venkateshwara Rao inspected various Government schools in Karimnagar on Monday.

A three-member committee of Supreme Court-appointed advocates to examine the conditions prevailing in the Government schools and condition of amenities such as toilets and drinking water and other facilities as part of Right to Education Act, are touring various schools in Karimnagar District from Monday.

The panel members Ashok Kumar Gupta, TV Ratnam and G. Venkateshwara Rao inspected various Government schools in Karimnagar on Monday as part of their two-day inspection. The team visited the schools in Chintakunta and Durshed on the outskirts, Sapthagiri Colony, Dhangarwadi, Subhashnagar, Kharkhanagadda localities in Karimnagar town and inspected the availability of toilets separately for the boys and girls.

The committee members also inspected the availability of running water in the toilets and the drinking water facilities available for the students, separate washing areas for the mid-day meal scheme. The committee also inquired about the availability of safe drinking water facilities from the municipal authorities.

The team members also inquired about the enrolment of the students and the pass percentage. The panel members expressed satisfaction over the maintenance of toilets and drinking water arrangements. The committee would submit its report to the Supreme Court. District Education Officer Srinivasa Chary, RVM project officer Narsinga Rao and others accompanied the team members.
