Rythu Bandhu an election stunt, says Congress

TPCC general secretary B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has described the Rythu Bandhu Scheme as a political stunt of TRS leadership to get votes of farmers whom it has neglected all these years.

Had Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao any affection or concern for farmers he would have waived the ₹ 1 lakh farm loan in a single move instead of giving relief in four instalments, he said while talking to reporters here on Saturday. Keeping in view the forthcoming elections KCR raised curtain for a new drama, he said.

“Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao is benefiting only landlords and rich farmers and not small and marginal farmers. Because a major amount of ₹12,000 crore goes to them. Tenant farmers who constitute 60 % are kept out of the scheme. What the CM is giving is a paltry amount to small and marginal farmers. If he ensures profitable price to all crops that would be enough,” he said.

Stating that no section of people was happy in the TRS governance, Mr. Mahesh said that the Chief Minister was expressing confidence of coming back to power only because of his ill-gotten wealth in the form of commissions in irrigation projects and Mission Bhagiratha. However, people were wise enough to understand all his gimmicks and would not allow him to come back to power, the Congress leader said.
