The indefinite strike launched by the RTC unions demanding wages at this juncture is unwarranted, due to which, the citizens are put to great inconvenience. The same RTC unions went on a flash strike for one day some time back causing financial loss to the Corporation.
The permissibility of the RTC unions to frequently resort to strikes is deplorable.
The government and the corporation should be firm in catering to the needs of the general public by maintaining essential transport system. In order to overcome the losses, the corporation proposes to increase the bus fares. Why should the common man bear the brunt? In all fairness, the losses incurred by the Corporation should be redeemed from the organisers of the ‘strikes’ and in no case such a burden be passed on to the denizens.

I was travelling by the Narayanadri Express with my family on May 7 from Tirupati to Secunderabad. The scheduled arrival of this train at Secunderabad on May 8 was 6.25 a.m. The train reached Bibinagar after a delay of 25 minutes. While the train was stopped at Ghatkesar and Moula Ali railway stations for 15 and 25 minutes, respectively, two trains trailing behind were allowed to proceed.
All are superfast express trains and the logic behind allowing the trailing trains to proceed is not understood. As our train was already running late, it should have been allowed to go. We reached the Secunderabad railway station late by one and half hours. The Railway authorities are requested to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
