Coal workers affiliated to Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TGBKS) staged a massive dharna in front of the Singareni GDK 5 incline mine on Wednesday opposing the invocation of Section 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

Coal miners led by TGBKS leader K. Mallaiah protested the invocation of Section 8 by wearing black badges. Stating that it was against the federal structure of the country, Mr. Mallaiah alleged that AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was invoking Section 8 to cover up his mistakes. Meanwhile, similar protests against invoking Section 8 were held in Medak district on Wednesday.
