RIMS gets digital x-ray system

The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, has got two Computed Radiology units, which will facilitate digital x-ray pictures on conventional X-ray machines. This is the first time that a government hospital will get the technology of digital X-ray which will enable the doctors located in different departments to evalute the imaging in real time on their computers which are linked to the Radiology Department.

According to Radiologist Dr. Kalyan Reddy, the CR system will be inaugurated on Saturday.

The unit has been connected to five departments where there is heavy rush of patients needing X-ray imaging. The two units cost Rs. 15 lakh and another Rs. 3 lakh were spent on accessories. These units will gradually be connected to all departments through the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), according to the RIMS Radiologist.
