The Adivasis of Adilabad on Friday demanded that the State government immediately file its response to the Supreme Court notice issued in the case related to tenability of the Lambada tribe in the list of Scheduled Tribes. This and other demands came up at a protest meeting by organisations belonging to nine aboriginal tribes and a memorandum enlisting the issues was later handed over to Joint Collector G. Sandhya Rani.

The speakers who gathered at the meeting, held under the aegis of Tudum Debba, included Raj Gond elder Sidam Bheem Rao, district chief of Rai Centres or advisory councils Mesram Durgu, Tudum Debba district vice president Godam Ganesh, State general secretary Kodapa Nagesh and Pardhan Purohit Sangham district general secretary Arka Khammu, among others.

The Adivasi leaders insisted that the government should file its response.

Among other demands of the Adivasis was providing ST certificates to those tribes which were included in the list under Constitution Article 342 as on January 26, 1950.
