The Project Officer, Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Utnoor, R.V. Karnan on Thursday promised the Adivasi Gonds of the remote Lendiguda habitation to supply solar lamps. The habitation falling under Birsaipet gram panchayat of Utnoor mandal is not supplied with power and the 11 families here are not covered under most of the government schemes.

Mr. Karnan reached the inaccessible village and interacted with the Gond families to learn about their status. He was told that the villagers do not have a drinking water source either.

The Project Officer sanctioned an open well to the village as it does not have power to operate a tube well. He also said the Adivasis will be given rights on forest lands under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006.

Mr. Karnan asked officials to educate the tribal people of the remote habitation about the benefits under governmental schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Kalyan Laxmi and other insurance schemes. He later visited Narsapur (J), Shivguda and the Dantanpalli primary health centre.
