Rains halt coal production in Bhupalpalli

June 16, 2015 11:32 am | Updated 11:32 am IST - WARANGAL:

The coal production at Bhupalpalli has come to a standstill due to rains for the past four days resulting in a loss of about Rs.4 crore to the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).

The only open-cast mine producing on an average of 8,000 to 9,000 tonnes of coal halted the operations due to inclement weather. The area turned unfavourable for the movement of dumpers and trucks as rain water got stranded all over.

There were five underground mines where the coal production was going on as usual producing an average of 11,000 tonnes per day, according to officials.
