Surface mining particularly the overburden removal operations in the OCPs in Manuguru, Yellandu, Koyagudem and Sattupalli areas of the Singareni coalfields in the erstwhile composite Khammam district were affected due to intermittent spells of downpour for the second day in a row.

Heavy motors were deployed to pump out the accumulated rain water from the OCPs, sources added.

Following steady inflow of water from its upper reaches, the water level in the Godavari at Bhadrachalam town has shot up from 10 feet on Sunday morning to little over 15 feet late in the evening.
