The police and representatives of different mobile operating companies led by Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy went round the district headquarters town on Friday to examine the radiation emanating from cell towers.

They sought to assuage the fears expressed by the residents of Vinayaknagar, Tilaknagar and police headquarters over the reported ill-effects of the mobile phones towers.

The team, which observed the impact of radiation comprises officials from Reliance, BSNL, DoT, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Anand Kumar.

With the help of a special instrument, they checked the percentage of radiation and observed that it was 4.98 milliwatts at Vinayaknagar, 2.8 milliwatts at bus stand area and 1.140 milliwatts at police headquarters, which were far below the set limits (1000 milliwatts in a square meter) of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).

The Superintendent of Police later talking to media persons said that the radiation limit was far below the prescribed limits and therefore the people need not be afraid of its impact.

With the help of 3G and 4G services, the economy would make progress and many facilities would become available. Hence, the people should not resist the technology, which was useful for the society, he added.
