Protest against demand to invoke Section 8

June 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - WARANGAL:

TRS leaders and government employees took to the streets opposing the TDP’s demand to invoke Section 8 of the A.P. Reorganisation Act in Hyderabad. The TRS urban youth wing activists burnt an effigy of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at Hanamkonda chowrastha.

Addressing the gathering, TRS urban youth wing general secretary Jani Darshan Singh, Boda Dinna, Chaganti Ramesh, Syed Moinuddin and others said they strongly opposed the implementation of Section 8.

They pointed out that during the one year rule of the TRS government in the State, not a single incident of violence had taken place either in Hyderabad or any other district in the State. The government has complete control over law and order.

They further urged the ACB to arrest Mr. Chandrababu Naidu in the cash-for-vote scam.

The TNGOs and Employees JAC leaders took out a massive demonstration and staged a rasta roko in front of the District Collectorate, expressing their dissent over the demand to hand over law and order control of Hyderabad to the Governor.

The TNGOs leader, K. Rajesh Kumar Goud, alleged that Andhra Pradesh leaders had been lobbying with the Centre to impose Section 8 in Hyderabad.

“There is no need to invoke Section 8 in Hyderabad as people belonging to Andhra Pradesh have been living peacefully in the city and the State government is committed to protecting their interests,” he stated.

Sangareddy Staff Reporter adds: Protesting over reports of Section 8 of the A.P. Reorganisation Act being enforced at Hyderabad, employees held a protest at the Collectorate. They raised slogans against the Andhra Pradesh government and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. They warned that another agitation would be taken up if Section 8 was imposed by the Union Government.
