Power: Telangana TDP leaders tear into TRS Government

Charging the TRS Government with the complete neglect of agriculture, Telangana TDP leaders have decided to launch a ‘Bus Yatra’ on October 10 to expose the “adamant attitude” of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and console farmers.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, TDP leaders E.Peddi Reddy and others demanded the TRS government to provide power to the agriculture sector for eight hours. Although the power portfolio was with the Chief Minister, it was the misfortune of farmers that no time was allotted to review electricity supply position, shortage and problems of farmers.

Full backing for farmers

Even while the anguished farmers were committing suicide due to withering of crops in Telangana, there were no reviews on demand and supply of electricity.

They said the TDP leaders would stand by farmers till the TRS government opened its eyes and took steps to protect crops. TDP leaders would tour Nalgonda on October 10, Warangal the next day and Adilabad on October 12 as part of the ‘Bus Yatra.’

While the neighbouring States were purchasing power from other States and increasing the supply, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was running the administration without any plan.

At another press meet, senior TDP leader Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy said the TRS had miserably failed in solving people’s problems since it came to power four months ago.

KCR targeted

He demanded the TRS government to come out with a white paper on the availability of electricity and the quantity being purchased.

He criticised Mr. Rao for reportedly stating that he would ask TDP MLAs to change their party although they had declared that they would not join TRS. He claimed that TDP was being targeted because the party was strong in rural areas. Instead of “trying to be in touch with TDP leaders and workers”, he asked the TRS leaders to focus on solving people’s problems.
