The Karimnagar district police, who played an active role in the ambitious Mission Kakatiya programme, are once again in the forefront of the implementation of Haritha Haram programme with the adoption of at least a village in each mandal.
Superintendent of Police D. Joel Davis on Friday kick-started the process of digging pits for planting saplings under the programme, which will begin on July 3 in Kamanpur village of Karimnagar mandal and Neelojipalli and Kodurupaka villages of Boinpalli mandal. The SP said the Police Department has decided to adopt a village in each mandal and take up massive plantation. He said they would also plant saplings on all the police grounds, including police stations and police quarters. Stating that the Police Department would plant a total of one lakh saplings in the district, the SP called upon the people to actively participate in the programme. He said that Village Police Officers (VPO) would play a major role in the Haritha Haram programme in each of the adopted village.
