Plant saplings in institutions: Collector

District Collector P. Venkataram Reddy called upon the officials to take up institutional planting in systematic manner and to submit requirement of seedlings in the next four days in prescribed proforma.

Presiding over a review meeting here on Thursday, the Collector said that the administration had decided to plant 1.62 crore saplings this year and now it was the turn of officials to make the programme a grand success.

“No vacant space should be left without saplings and plantation should take place in mission mode. Avenue plantation will be taken up for about 1,000 kilometres covering 2.5 kilometres in each village. Permissions for pitting need to be taken in the next two or three days and fertilizer would be supplied by agriculture officer for this purpose,” said Mr. Venkataram Reddy adding that officers should take the responsibility of protecting the planted saplings.

Joint Collector Padmakar, DFO Sridhar Rao, DPO Suresh and others participated in the programme.
