Patibandla Venkatapathi Rayalu passes away

Noted historian, novelist and travelogue writer, Patibandla Venkatapathi Rayalu, passed away after brief illness here on Monday. He is survived by two sons and one daughter.

His younger son P. Ram Mohan Rao is a senior doctor and the honorary president of the State Jana Vignana Vedika.

Born in Veerulapadu village in Krishna district in 1914, Mr. Rayalu led an eventful life.

He penned and published eight books and of them, the book on temples in the country earned widespread appreciation.

He travelled the country extensively on foot for more than twelve years.

The 101-year-old Rayalu, after retiring as Hindi teacher in early 70s, devoted rest of his life for travel and writing.

He was felicitated by different literary and cultural organisations recently here.

His funeral was held this evening.

Several doctors, writers and poets paid floral tributes.

They also expressed their heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
