Over 100 buses operated in Adilabad

May 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - ADILABAD:

The TSRTC on Thursday operated 105 of the 178 buses on hire on some main routes which did ease the problem faced by general public in the district owing to the ongoing strike by RTC trade unions. The inter-State passengers, however, continued to suffer as no services were operated between Maharashtra and Adilabad.

There were more auto-rickshaws and passenger jeeps on the highways during the day instead of buses. Autos from Adilabad even operated five km into the Maharashtra territory reaching Patan Bori on the NH-44 by crossing the inter-State border at Penganga river bridge and Mandvi in Kinwat taluk.

There was some trouble in supply of vegetables to towns as Palle Velugu buses, which usually transport vegetables from villages, stayed in the depot. Auto and jeep drivers made a killing by charging almost double the normal fare.
