One lakh persons are expected to attend the public meeting scheduled to be addressed by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi here on June 1, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

Mr. Reddy along with party senior leaders Damodar Rajanarasimha, J. Geeta Reddy, V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Suresh Shetkar and T. Jayaprakash Reddy visited the stadium ground, the venue of the proposed public meeting on Friday.

Speaking to media, the TPCC president said that Rahul Gandhi in his public meeting would expose the misdeeds of the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Promises unfulfilled

The meeting is being organised on June 1, a day ahead of the third anniversary celebrations of Telangana formation day. “Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao in TS Telangana and Mr. Modi in Delhi had promised people that their future would be transformed. But nothing has changed and people are still facing the same old problems,” Mr. Reddy said, adding that over 3,000 farmers have committed suicide after the Telangana formation.

Further, the State has failed to come to the rescue of farmers who, after having a bountiful harvest, were being forced to sell their produce at a throwaway price.

The TPCC president did not give a clear answer on whether the AICC vice-president would visit Osmania University and said that Mr. Gandhi would interact with the farmers and youth.
