Notify admissions in higher education, urges BJP

Floor Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Telangana Assembly, K. Laxman, has demanded that the government take immediate steps to notify admissions in higher education, and feared that any delay would result in irreversible loss to students.

He also took exception to the government adopting different processes for admissions on one hand and fee reimbursement on the other. “This is unfair. And how can the government deny fee reimbursement to a student saying it is the responsibility of the other government? Any government decision should be prospective and certainly not retrospective,” he stated, at a press conference here on Monday.

Referring to the question of nativity, over which the government had stipulated the year 1956 and before, he said it was sad that first it were the ‘Mulki rules’ and then the Presidential Order. “Now this point of the year 1956. How can people be expected to produce certificates proving the nativity of their fathers and grandfather? Getting paperwork to prove nativity for generations is not an easy task,” he said, adding that all these rules appeared to be an excuse for the government to wriggle out of a financial burden.

The BJP Floor Leader said any investment on human resources should not be neglected. “It is certainly a problem that has to be looked at from the point of view of a financial issue but one of investment in the future of a fledgling State that needs its doctors and engineers for development,” he reiterated. Several colleges offering higher education were finding it very difficult with the delay in fee reimbursement, he pointed out.
