Union Ministry of Human Resources Development’s National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) opened its first-ever study centre in the Telugu States at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) for Women here on Friday.

Inaugurating the study centre, NIOS State director Anilkumar Rote said the MHRD was providing an opportunity for ITI graduates to get Intermediate certificate if they completed two subjects in Plus Two.

Thus, they would have both the ITI and Intermediate certificates and have an opportunity to pursue engineering or other higher education courses. The centre was opened to enable students complete open schooling at the lowest cost.

“I am very impressed with the infrastructure and the academic atmosphere at this ITI. The laboratory, workshop, modern equipment, and classrooms at the institute are excellent. This is why it has been selected as the NIOS study centre,” Mr. Rote said.

Satya Educational Institute managing director Ch. Suresh Babu, ITI principal K. Ram Mohan Rao, and NIOS coordinator Ch. Sripallavi also spoke.
