Night bus services to Bhadrachalam suspended

The TSRTC has suspended the night bus services to the interior areas in Bhadrachalam division bordering Chhattisgarh for the consecutive second day on Thursday in view of the Black Day called by the CPI (Maoist) outfit to protest against abrogation of Article 370.

As a precautionary measure, the RTC authorities have cancelled the bus services on the Bhadrachalam-Charla route from 5 pm on Thursday to 5 am on Friday anticipating Maoist violence targeting the public transport buses keeping in view the CPI (Maoist)'s call for boycott of the Independence Day celebrations, sources added.

Amid tight security arrangements, Independence Day was celebrated in Bhadrachalam town and elsewhere in the division on Thursday. No untoward incidents were reported from any part of the Agency till reports last came in. The night bus services to the interior areas will be resumed from Friday, said an RTC official of Bhadrachalam bus station.

Meanwhile, people inhabiting far flung areas depended on private jeeps and autos to travel between the temple town of Bhadrachalam and their habitations following the suspension of night bus services on Thursday.
