Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali hinted at far reaching reforms in the Registration Department.

Once cleaning of records is done, major reforms will follow in registration too. The Gram Panchayat layouts in the vicinity of towns and cities would be banned for registration as it is where major manipulations are being done. Same land was shown under different layouts to cheat gullible buyers. Layouts authorised by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and other urban local bodies in their jurisdiction after payment of Non Agricultural Land Assessment Tax would alone be accepted for registration, Mr. Mamood Ali said.

Once a plot sale is registered, it will be the responsibility of the Tehsildar to carry out mutation in the records and send it back to the Registrar, who in turn will send the registration documents to the buyer by speed post. It is also proposed to link the registration document to the Aadhaar number of the title owner to prevent any future manipulations by unscrupulous elements., he said.
