Congress Legislature Party leader K. Jana Reddy has clarified that he never expressed resentment at not being made the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president.
Mr. Reddy, in an informal chat with reporters here on Thursday, said it was wrong to say that he had not appreciated his candidature being ignored for the post of TPCC president. The senior Congress legislator made these remarks in the wake of speculation that he has been lying low for some time after the party failed to win the elections.
A section of the leaders are of the opinion that the Congress leadership had erred in ignoring the capabilities of Mr. Jana Reddy and denying him a chance to become the TPCC president. Some newly elected MLAs and seniors have been openly criticising the party leadership for making changes in the PCC on the eve of elections and making Ponnala Lakshmaiah the president and N. Uttam Kumar Reddy the working president.
“I had campaigned in Miryalaguda, Kodada and Devarakonda constituencies in the available 12 days,” Mr. Reddy said. The Nagarjunasagar MLA said that he did express his opinion that he wanted to retire from politics after the party lost the polls. “But, now I realise that there is need for all Congress party men to strengthen the party and bring it back on track,” he remarked.
