National Librarians’ Day celebrated

The 124th birth anniversary of S.R. Ranganathan, Father of Indian Libraries, was celebrated as National Librarians’ Day at Navchethan Book House (Visalandra) in the town on Wednesday.

District Public Relations Officer D.V.J.A.V. Prasad participated as chief guest and garlanded the portrait of S.R. Ranganathan.

Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the librarians to play a crucial role in making students read books and newspapers and excel in their chosen career.

‘Educate students’

He also told them to educate the students and others about various welfare and development programmes launched by the government.

Retired librarian M. Sudhakar Reddy, Book House manager P. Narasimha and others were also present.
