The State Government has roped in the National Geographic channel to record the transformation of the new capital city of Amaravathi and its rich heritage.
The channel has been entrusted with the job of making a documentary on the construction of the capital city covering its transformation – from the conceptual stage to the execution. The visual documentation will stretch over five years.
The project has been given the probable title of Amaravathi – The Future City.
As part of the documentary, National Geographic will interview farmers in the capital region to record their expectations from the capital.
The documentary will narrate the rich history, culture and geographical importance of the place.
Five years to make
“The objective is to capture the essence of the city in the making. It will help the next generation track the hardships faced and sacrifices made by the people to build the capital city,” said a senior official.
“The documentary can also help us promote the newly formed State. The entire project will cost around Rs.50 lakh,” said the official.
The National Geographic team will start on its assignment with the foundation ceremony on October 22.
Though the one-hour documentary would be completed after five years, the team would be presenting short film capsules covering different aspects intermittently time, the official explained.
