If fire frightened everyone, sudden drop in mobile phone signals had them panicking even more as they frantically tried to contact their family members at Industrial Exhibition in Nampally on Thursday night.

Amid utter confusion as flames engulfed the stalls and continued to spread, people tried to call their near and dear ones over mobile phones only to get more tensed as phone signals were unavailable. Those who tried to send messages using WhatsApp and other messenger services too had a tough time as messages could not be delivered.

As fear gripped people over the safety of their loved ones, many were in a state of shock and burst into tears.

When fire broke out, people started running helter skelter resulting in chaos all around. One onlooker said it was a miracle that there was no stampede.

Two fire accident victims – Raj Kumar, 45, and Dilawar Hussain, 50, were rushed to Care Hospital, Nampally, but were stated to be out of danger.
