Husband of MRO Vijaya Reddy, Subash Reddy, grieving at the Osmania General Hospital mortuary on Monday.

The killing of Vijaya Reddy has shocked the entire State, and more so -- Nalgonda, the victim’s native place.

Both Vijaya Reddy and her husband Putta Subhash Reddy belong to Nalgonda -- Nakrekal and Munugode constituencies -- respectively.

Her teachers recollected Vijaya Reddy as a bright student, and all her education was in Nalgonda.

Daughter of C. Linga Reddy, a teacher, she completed her schooling and college from AVM Educational Institutions in Nakrekal, graduation from Nagarjuna Government College in Nalgonda town, and later through the DSC was appointed school assistant.

While being a teacher, she pursued her aspiration for three years for State civil services and cracked the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission Group - II in 2011, and was appointed deputy tahsildar.

One of her teachers, P. Srinivas, recollected how happy she was after her selection.

“She came to the school and distributed sweets. She was a meritorious student,” he said.

The atmosphere at Kallapally village in Munugode mandal, her husband's home town, was also filled with shock and gloom.

Meanwhile, employees of all ranks in the Revenue offices at Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri boycotted work.

All the Revenue staff wore black ribbons, mourning the death.

Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy offered condolences to the bereaved family and said the government would take the strictest stand against the brutal attack. It is a “shameful act,” he said.
