hey come from Maharashtra and Bihar to Hyderabad by train, bringing along their motorcycles. Riding these bikes, they snatched chains from women - at least four in an hour - park the vehicles at the parking lots in railway stations and return to their homes by train.
Leaving the bikes at parking lots not to get caught or arouse suspicion was the modus operandi adopted by this inter-State gang. Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested three members of the gang. The arrested -- Fathe Akram Ali, 23, and Hyder Akram Ali, 20, were from Maharashtra. The third, Javed Ali was from Bihar, said Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand at a press conference.
Hunt was on for Khalander, 24, and Bolu Afsar Ali, 25, both from Madhya Pradesh.
Members of the gang earlier used to snatch chains from women walking alone on the roads in northern States. Of late, they started striking in Hyderabad.
From 2014, the gang struck 32 times at different places in the commissionerates of Hyderabad and Cyberabad. The five accused are close relatives. Snatched gold chains weighing 975 grams and two bikes were recovered from them.
