Academician and social activist Kanche Ilaiah alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to divide the society on the lines of religion and alienate Muslims.
Participating in a seminar held at Congress party district office held here on Tuesday, Prof. Ilaiah said that the statement made by Mr. Modi that India would be converted into vegetable consuming nation was highly objectionable and it was nothing but preventing the food habits of others.
“It was stated that the Prime Minister has told that the future of India might have been different had Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel been the first Prime Minister. In that case, the Muslim population in India might have been about 40 per cent instead of what they are now,” he said adding that both Nehru and Ambedkar protected the secular fabric of India.
The meeting was presided over by District Congress Committee (DCC) president V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and attended by former Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha, spokesperson D. Srinvan Kumar, former whip T. Jayaprakash Reddy among others.
KCR criticised
Referring to the rule of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, he said that it resembled ‘rule by Doras’ of yesteryears. “Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao has been proposing Chandiyagam while famers are committing suicides. Festivals like Bathukamma are being conducted by the government while they need to be held privately,” he said.
