Mini Shilparamam, one of the most awaited projects taken up by the HMDA and Shilparamam, would be inaugurated at Uppal on June 22.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Thursday, G. Kishan Rao, IAS, Special Officer to Shilparamam, said Mini Shilparamam should be self-sustained to function profitably for a long time.

Allocated funds

Mr. Kishan Rao said the initiative would act as a solution to the absence of recreational avenues and facilities in the eastern part of the city. The project has been taken up on 7.5 acres of land allocated by the HMDA. The authority also allocated ₹5 crore in two instalments for the project with which the first phase of work has been completed.

Mini Shilparamam would provide 50 craft sellers an opportunity to market and advertise their art. The allocation of stall would be on rotational basis giving first shift seller a period of three months to sell.

Foul odour

As the project has come up on the banks of river Musi here, foul odour emanating from the river is a major concern.

“We are taking necessary steps to prevent the foul odour that emanates from the river. We are using different machines to avoid water stagnation. The Musi Riverfront Development Corporation will be cleaning this part of Musi River, giving this a high priority,” said Param Jyoti, SC, HMDA.

Home Minister Md. Mahamood Ali, Ministers V. Srinivas Goud, C. Malla Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav would grave the inauguration.

Initially, the entry ticket would cost ₹20 and ₹10 respectively for adults and children.
