Maoists torch road-laying equipment

January 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:59 am IST - KHAMMAM:

Maoists went on the rampage setting ablaze four tipper lorries, a road roller and an excavator at Tekulagudem in Wajedu mandal close to the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The incident comes close on the heels of an unsuccessful attempt by Maoists to blast a cell phone tower at Satyanarayanapuram in Charla mandal over a week ago. Sources said about 20 Maoists, including two women cadres, set on fire vehicles engaged in construction of a road between Tekulagudem in the mandal and Tallagudem of Chhattisgarh shortly after midnight.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties.
