Man arrested, stolen jewellery recovered

A 28-year-old burglar, who allegedly attacked an elderly woman and robbed her ornaments and pledged the ornaments in a cooperative bank, was arrested by Chandur police here on Friday.

The accused was identified as Akarapu Shekar, resident of New SC Colony, Munugode.

Nalgonda DSP B. Ramulu Nayak, said the accused allegedly attacked Miryalala Varalakshmi (55) on June 11 at her residence in Munugode and robbed her ornaments.

Varalakshmi sustained serious injuries.

Following the compliant, the Chandur police launched a hunt for the accused and nabbed him on Friday.

The police also seized Rs. 2.40 lakh worth ornaments pledged by the accused in a co-operative bank besides, a bike and Rs.13,000 in cash from him.
