In what is perceived as a show of strength of the ruling TRS ahead of the coming Assembly elections, the party will organise a massive public meeting at Kongar Kalan on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday evening.

The TRS has billed the event “Pragati Nivedana Sabha” as one that has never been organised by any party in the country, mobilising about 25 lakh people. One lakh vehicles, mostly tractors covered with party posters, will transport the crowd from all districts to the venue spread over 2,000 acres.

Festive look

The party has hired 7,300 State transport buses, which will leave skeletal services on roads for the public. It has set up huge cutouts of its president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and huge balloons and festoons on thoroughfares to give a festive look.

Mr. Rao will be the lone speaker to present the progress report of the government in the last four years.

The TRS has made elaborate arrangements, including setting up a dais that can seat 600 leaders. Cultural performances will entertain the crowd till Mr. Rao’s entry. After his speech, there will be an hour-long fireworks display.
