Mallannasagar: award inquiry begins at Singaram, Erravalli

Lands of farmers who rejected GO 123 to be acquired under LA Act 2013 or 2016

The district administration has commenced the award inquiry meetings in villages under the proposed Mallannasagar reservoir limits where some farmers had not sold their lands to the government under the GO 123, which was kept on hold by the High Court.

Majority of the farmers from about seven villages under the proposed Mallannasagar project had sold their lands to the government almost a year ago and all of them were promised double bed-room houses by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao.

However, some farmers had refused to sell their lands under GO 123. The government has decided to acquire those lands either under LA Act – 2013 or LA Act – 2016 (Telangana Amendment).

As part of the process, the award inquiry was commenced by the revenue officials at Singaram village under Kondapaka mandal on Monday followed by Erravalli on Tuesday. The inquiry would be held at Tipparam on Wednesday. The government has to acquire 18 acres at Singaram, 35 acres at Erravalli and 58 acres at Tipparam.

“The award inquiry was related to ascertaining the details of farmers and their land holdings in connection with land records,” Gajwel RDO Vijayender Reddy told The Hindu .

Allegations

At the meeting held at Singaram on Monday, some of the villagers alleged that their names were removed from the records without the requisite land registration. Yet again, others questioned the delay in sanctioning double bed-room houses.

There were also allegations that though the lands were sold to the government almost a year ago, the farmers were yet to receive the cheques for the same.

Responding to the allegations, the RDO asked them to present the list of those who had not received the amount and that it would be cleared in a month.

Ensuring relocation

The officials said that the villagers would be asked to vacate the village only after they were relocated to a new place and the government was ready to extend ₹5.04 lakh for the double bed-room houses or hand it over to the beneficiaries provided they opted for that.
