Youth from Telangana shot at in United States

An IT professional from Mahabubabad in Telangana, Poosa Sai Krishna, is being treated at a hospital after he was shot at by unidentified miscreants in Detroit, Michigan.

He was apparently shot at by some miscreants when he was returning from work in Detroit Downtown on January 3 but the incident came to light only after two days.

Severely injured

The assailants fired three rounds, severely injuring him, and fled with his wallet and car.

A passer-by, who found him on the roadside with bullet injuries in freezing conditions, alerted the authorities. Sivanand Poosa, Sai Krishna’s cousin, said his brother who was on ventilator support, was doing well now. His father Poosa Yellaiah is a teacher and his mother Shailaja a homemaker. Mr Sai Krishna who completed his B Tech from a private college in Hyderabad in 2014 went to the United States.

He completed postgraduation in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Tech University, Southfield, Michigan, and recently started work with an automotive company in Detroit Downtown.

Funds raised

Meanwhile, Sai Krishna’s friends and people from the Indian community launched an online campaign on for raising funds for his medical and rehabilitation support.

So far, the campaign has received US$ 124,738 out of the US$ 250,000 sought and the campaign is trending.

The campaign has sought money for the numerous surgeries and complicated procedures he has to go through. Moreover, he doesn’t have health insurance and has a lot of student debt. He will be out of the job for more than six months for rehabilitation.
