‘Maha padayatra’ to begin on Oct. 31

Sri Ayyappa Karthika Utsava Committee of Ayyappa temple at Bhaghathnagar, which had been conducting ‘maha padayatra’ from Karimnagar town to Sabarimala, has decided to launch the yatra on October 31.

In a press note released here on Wednesday, the Utsav Committee leader Gadapa Nagaraju, who has participated in the maha padayatra since the last 14 years, said that the yatra would begin on October 31 and reach Sabarimala on December 14.

Ayyappa devotees would traverse 1,400 km covering Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala to reach the Ayyappa temple shrine after 45 days of yatra.

Pilgrims who are interested to take part can to contact the Ayyappa temple priest, Rajeshwara Sharma, in the town for more information on the yatra.
